Hi. This is Stephen from the DoubleVision Conditioning Centre. Today, I’m going to be talking about whether we recommend intermittent fasting for clients.

Do We Recommend Intermittent Fasting?

We get asked this question a lot about whether intermittent fasting is right for our clients and we have quite specific views on this for the type of people who have come to our centres and that we see day to day and that is the normal type of person who potentially has done a lot of different sorts of diet in the past and is actually trying to start to eat healthily to lose body fat.

We think that to go straight into intermittent dieting after having a cycle of dropping your calories, doing different sorts of dieting and rebounding, would be the worst thing to do. But actually you just teach your body those wrong sorts of signal, where what you really want it to be looking to do is to get a real big strong base of healthy eating and sustain fat loss. Because the one thing with a lot of these studies about intermittent fasting is they have actually compared intermittent fasting against a normal healthy fat loss, healthy- type diet. They have always compared them to eating unhealthy food and of course if you’re going to be crossing those out like fasting, you’re actually going to be healthier by virtue of not eating as many processed poor food choices.

So in our eyes for 99% of the clients that we see and we interact with, intermittent fasting is not right, it’s much better to get a real strong base of eating a really, really healthy fat- loss foods, educate your metabolism nice and in order.
