Tara Has Started Her Transformation Strongly..See How She Is Doing It

Health, Case Study

I am 22 years old. I work within a veterinary practise in Bedford as a Veterinary Nurse. I do love my job but it does involve a lot of hours and different shifts on a daily basis; I currently live at home with my mum and sister.Tara I joined DVCC at the end of April this year, I have currently lost 20lbs of fat and my fitness has improved leaps and bounds. My eating habits have completely changed since joining DVCC, I have recently been to Ibiza for a week and only put on 1lb of fat (and it was all inclusive!).

I currently hold a Second Dan black belt within Karate and when I started this job I started training less and less due to work commitments. I would train every now again and I could see my fitness had dropped and I could not keep up with the session as a Second Dan should do. This is was when I decided to join DVCC.

Also another incentive was a photo that was taken when I was down in Bournemouth, I saw it and was shocked and realised it was time to change. I also think most women can relate to this one, I wanted to buy nice clothes to go on holiday with and not hide in jeans and tops, and feel comfortable in what I was wearing.

I came across DVCC just by googling "gyms within Bedford" and it was the first one that comes up, it was just what I wanted. I did not want to go to a traditional gym as I felt I would not keep at it, also I would not even know where to start if I was to train by myself and potentially causing more damage than good.

I decided to go for a chat to see what the gym was about and if it was right for me.

When I went I was nervous that it was going to be like a normal gym and people would judge me about how unfit I was, but it was completely different. Josh showed me around the gym and told me how it was different from the traditional ones, for example no mirrors. We then went through my lifestyle for example work habits and eating habits, and also what my concerns would be that may mean I was not to achieve my aims, which was then soon reassured as options where given to make things easier for me to train.

My main concerns about starting DVCC were that it was going to be a typical gym where people would judge you and not help you. Where at the DVCC it is completely different, every one helps each other on. Especially when you are struggling, it is not just the trainers that cheer you on it is the clients as well. The trainers do not judge, if you can do a certain exercise or lift certain weights, they change the session to fit you. The other main concerns for any one is the dreaded weigh in, however you are reassured throughout the whole thing and talk about something different so you are not paying attention to what the scale say. Its all part of The Progress Tracker, and its good to know my weight loss is part of a proven process.

The goals were then broken down into habits, which you receive and work on, so you are not going cold turkey and cutting out everything at once, and changing one thing at a time which means it works and you can easily stick to it.

The first session was a killer and I ached for days after, but knowing that you completed it and it was not impossible felt amazing.

I will also always remember I was in a session and we did the prowler (an contraption you push). I got to the point where I felt like I could not physically do it anymore, but only had 5 steps to go to finish the exercise and with the encouragement of Nathan I did it.

I felt amazing after it, and I have achieved something that I would never have been able to do before.

Within the first week I knew that DVCC was for me, the main thing that kept me going were the friendly smiles and also they booked you in for the next sessions for that week on the Monday.

Everyone from the clients to the trainers are always laughing and joking. Everyone is also very open about their own personal journey, so hearing when other people may be having a bad day with their eating habits makes it feel normal sometimes having a piece of chocolate is fine as long as you get back on it the following day.

I can honestly say without the support and encouragement of Josh and Nathan I would not train five times a week and would not have got the results I have achieved today. I have also just signed up to do my first 5K mud run in September, which would have never happened before I joined DVCC.

I am looking forward to achieve more weight loss and muscle tone. Also I am currently undertaking a degree, and cannot wait to walk down the aisle in the cap and gown and get some amazing photos that I am going to be proud of for life and not look back not liking what I look like.

One thing to remember is to stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive about what could go right, what is the worst that could happen?
