Hi. This is Stephen McGray from the DoubleVision Conditioning Centre. Today, I’m just going to be having a few words about the 2-Day Diet.

The 2-Day Diet is not Intermittent Fasting

The 2-Day Diet has been linked with something called “Intermittent Fasting” very, very recently. I know that it was actually serialized in the Daily Mail, which obviously means it’s 100% correct. But I want to mention my opinion on the 2-Day Diet and say it’s actually not intermittent fasting at all because what happens is for 2 days you basically drop your calories down to 500 for those 2 days, and then for the following day you eat a normal amount of calories.

“Intermittent Dieting”

It’s actually what’s called “intermittent dieting.” In fact, I’m not going to say it’s
what’s called, but actually that’s my name for it because it’s intermittent dieting, you’re basically cutting down your calories for 2 days. You’re not fasting because fasting is where you deny yourself food for a length of time whereas for the 2 days of this 2-day diet, you’re actually dropping down your calories.

The 2-Day Diet only has short-term effects

Now my opinion of this is very similar to any weight watchers or any other calorie- restricted type of diet and it will have short term effects. You will lose weight to start with because also you’re cutting down your calories overall throughout the week you’re going to be eating less. But as we discussed in the former podcast, that’s sort of diet actually is very restrictive and affects your metabolism, muscles and things like that in the long term and ends up with you putting weight back on.

So that’s my opinion on the 2-day diet. I would really, really appreciate to see if anyone has actually tried it or doing it or what they’re opinion of it is and if you could just put  that in the box below, I look forward to reading your comments.
