See Marcus' Weight Loss. In His Own Words..

Health, Case Study, Nutrition, Exercise, Weight loss

Matt: Hello, this is Matthew from the DVCC. I am here with Marcus Moore who I am going to ask some questions to about his experience at the DVCC and what he has found to be the most beneficial for him in his transformation.

If you could please introduce yourself, how long have you been at the DVCC and what results have you achieved since you have been with us?

MarcusMarcus: Hi, I'm Marcus Moore and I have been with the DVCC since January, and in that time I have *lost 38.6 lbs of fat and gained 2.6lbs muscle.

Matt: That's awesome Marcus, very good from you!

So Marcus, for those who are listening to this, could you please tell me your top 3 favourite exercises?

Marcus: One of the great things about the sessions is that you'll never do the same session twice. When I can, I try to go twice a day to make the most of the work I put in. But even then, the guys will change around the exercises slightly, or just add more weights! My favourites tend to depend on how knackered I am.

But, overall, I'd say:

  • Prowler - Great for getting the heart rate up and just an all round workout. Legs always pumping afterwards. Especially when Greg has decided to stand on it!
  • Ring row - just when you thought your arms were dead, there's a ring row to do. Always a struggle to get to the end but you can really feel the effect.
  • Dumbbell snatch - Only because I can now snatch the 25kg dumbbells.
  • Burpees - Controversial, yes. But included as its undoubtedly one of the best all round exercises and always raises a smile once you're finished and dead on the floor.

Matt: That's awesome, Marcus - 25kg snatch! Strong from you! And everybody loves a good burpee!!

Marcus-1So now that we have established the exercise you have enjoyed the most, what are your top 3 pointers on the nutritional side of things with the Metabolic Damage Solution?

Marcus: 1) Keep the faith - I have learned the basic rules from the team and now have a much better understanding of my nutritional requirements throughout the day. That said, we all have the odd moment of madness. My advice: we're not all athletes in training! So I stick to the plan as much as I can. If I do deviate, I make sure I damn well enjoy it and then get straight back on it!

2) Shakes - I have found the shakes to be invaluable to me. Due to considerable travel with work and quite an unregulated schedule, I can rarely eat what at I want, when I want. The shakes have been a great way for me to supplement my protein intake and keep the cravings at bay!

3) Facebook - I'm no professional chef, but there are some members that have great recipes for spicing up the usual meat and veg. I've recently tried cauliflower rice from a recipe from one of the team on Facebook. So, get yourself on the site and keep an eye out for what everyone else is cooking.

New Call-to-action

Matt: Fantastic Marcus! That cauliflower rice sure is very tasty and a great substitute for carbohydrates in your meals.

Ok, and finally Marcus, what are your 3 top tips that you can share with everyone that have gotten you to where you are today?

Marcus: Top Tips

1) Try it - I was sceptical at first. But 4 months in, 3 *stone in fat *gone, an increase in muscle and a 6" drop in Jeans size, I can honestly say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. A real diversity in members and a great atmosphere.

2) Like most things, you get out what you put in. Going twice a day doesn't suit everyone. But make sure you push yourself (which the team will help you do) and you'll see great results. Make sure you get out of your comfort zone at every session.

3) Heart rate based training - I have recently purchased a heart rate monitor. I just wish I had done it sooner. It's great to be able to track each session and I definitely find it makes me push that bit harder to get my heart rate up towards the end of a set.

Matt: Brilliant advice from you there, Marcus! I am super happy with the progress you have made and very excited to see the future of your transformation!

Thank you very much to Marcus Moore, I hope you all enjoyed this. if you have any questions, please comment below and we will answer them for you. This is Matthew from the DVCC in Northampton, thank you for listening.
