That’s right, you did read the title correctly!

Eating more fat will help you lose fat… providing the fats you are eating are the right types of fat.

There has been lots of research done over the last couple of years which shows that natural fats will help you to become more healthy and also burn body fat.

Previous to this research, the idea was that all types of fat would make you gain fat and stop you from losing weight. The main reason for this is that fat holds 9 calories per gram, compared to carbs and protein at 4 calories per gram.

Due to this knowledge, the idea of eating less fat would mean that your overall calorific intake would be lower and therefore your body fat would decrease by reducing your calorie intake.

However, this has now been proven to be incorrect over the last few years.

Fat makes up all the outside layer of every cell in your body. Eating natural fats which contain omega3 will help to make your cells more sensitive to insulin - the result of which means that you will store less fat when you consume carbs and your body is more efficient at dealing with carbs.

Natural fats - especially ones which contain omega 3 fats, turn on genes that are involved with burning fat, while turning off the genes that store fat.

Fat and protein take longer to digest than carbohydrates and therefore will have a greater benefit if you are trying to lose weight, as fat will help you feel fuller for longer and help you deal with hunger and cravings.

The types of fat you want to go for are animal fats, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado and nuts.

You should avoid fats such as soy, peanut, corn, safflower, sunflower, and canola oil, as these fats are high in omega 6 and become damaging to the body during the process of being made.

Try to eat some natural fats with every meal and it will help you start losing body fat and feeling better!
