It is important to distinguish what the aim is when embarking on any form of nutrition program explains Northampton Personal Trainer.

I will assume, however, that if you are reading this your main aim is long term sustainable, healthy fat loss.

The Cambridge diet/Lighter Life from a long term, healthy fat loss perspective:

  • Uses a very low calorie diet (less than 800 calories a day) which is unsustainable for long term use.
  • Puts your body into starvation mode due to the low calorie restriction. This can result in your body becoming more adept at storing body fat rather than mobilising it for energy.
  • Often has a muscle breakdown affect, leading to a lower metabolism that can mean you will gain fat rather than lose it as soon as you go back to eating “real food”. We see a la
rge difference in the amount of muscle tone a person has, if they have done this sort of extreme low calorie nutrition.
  • Does not encourage any nutritional changes, in fact, can often lead to a distorted view about nutrition.
  • The only way to make continual progress is to try and keep lowering your calories. Your body adapts to the large decrease in calories by lowering its metabolism which means fat loss will halt.
  • Produces a large amount of stress on the body due to a lack of naturally occurring anti oxidants, vitamins and minerals.

DVCC uses a trademarked type of nutrition process that forms part of The Real You Transformation Process™

  • Teaches long term nutritional changes by focusing on the habits that can be maintained long term.
  • Focuses on whole, nutritious naturally occurring foods that your body are genetically programmed to eat.
  • Actually increases the health of the client, making them more immune to illness and disease.
  • Focuses not only on nutritional changes but The Confidence Advantage™ which forms part of The Real You Transformation Process focuses on mindset change.
  • Looks at everything involved in fat loss, including sleep, stress, toxicity among others.
  • Focuses on building muscle tone as well as fat loss which is vital for increases in your metabolism which leads to long term sustainable fat loss.
