Coffee can be beneficial for fat loss.

But that all depends on a what type of coffee you are drinking and when you are drinking it.

There are so many different types of coffee you can choose from at your local Costa or Starbucks. When you actually choose your coffee, you will be asked if you would like full fat or skimmed milk, sugar and even chocolate sprinkles in some cases. Then to top all of the above, the staff are made to ask whether you would like a piece of cake with your coffee.

The combination of the above is a nutritional disaster if you are trying to lose weight!

Not to fear though coffee lovers, all is not lost. Next time you are going to have a coffee, the best thing to have would be an Americano or Espresso with no sugar.

Coffee has been proven to stimulate your metabolism and allows you to burn more fat before training. It will also increase your focus and give you some added energy.

Therefore, the most beneficial time to drink a coffee would be before a training session.

Instead of adding milk to your coffee, try adding coconut oil or organic grass fed butter, as these natural fats will help give you energy and improve cognitive function.

Try to avoid coffee in the afternoon and evening as it will interfere with the quality of your sleep. it is also advisable to avoid coffee after training as it raises your cortisol levels, which you want to keep low after training because elevated cortisol levels will be detrimental to your recovery.
