"I'm doing more now than I did in my 30s!" - Karen's Journey at The DVCC

Sometimes life can feel pretty heavy. Each of us have our own battles we fight and all of our lives are full of a variety of stresses and anxieties which test us.

Karen (AKA Dory) suffers with anxiety and whilst you would never be able to tell, under her jolly, smiley face, a few years ago, she would be struggling with a number of trauma’s in her general day to day.

The doctors had recommended her antidepressants 4 times, but each time she refused.

Instead, Karen was doing something that was helping her without even realising…Every few days, she would come to the gym without fail. She would use that time to relax, decompress and use that hour to just focus on herself.

The endorphins she releases from training affect her whole day and the community, friendships and relationships that Karen has built during those hours have completely transformed her life.

She is happier in her appearance, her day to day mindset and whilst the anxieties may still come and go, she knows that she has a place where she knows she can spend time just focusing on her own mental wellbeing.
