These products are designed to grab your attention.
These products will usually be on the middle shelf at eye level, so they are the first thing you see, and because they are "fat free specialist products", they cost you that little bit more because they are going to help you lose weight by having the fat removed from them. It is an easy mistake to make and it comes from very misleading marketing.
When you are trying to lose fat you actually want to keep your natural fat intake on the high side. Fats from whole foods and animal fat are good healthy fats.
When companies produce and process these low fat foods, they take the natural fats out of them and replace them with sugar. The fat in a lot of food is where the flavour is held, so to get that flavour back, there will be a long list of added ingredients which are not ideal for fat loss, not to mention your health.
If you were to cook bacon without the fat on it, it just wouldn't taste as good.
The truth is that sugar will help you to gain body fat, (natural) fats are not the enemy.
So, if you are on a mission to reduce your body fat levels, avoid the low fat options - and next time you read "low fat" on a product, you will now know that it is most likely to be "high sugar".
