Do carbs make you put on weight?

It's no secret that carbohydrates have got a bad rap and it’s a pretty common misconception that eating carbs WILL instantly make you put on weight. However, we’re here to tell you that carbs are NOT the problem!

In short, carbs do NOT make you put on weight, consuming too many calories do!

The reason why people perceive carbs to be the cause of weight gain is that they are just too tasty and so are the easiest to overeat. Things like potatoes, rice, pasta, chips, bread all come into this category!

Another way of looking at things is: Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing…

If you find yourself struggling with those tasty carbs though, try to audit yourself. For many of us, it can be difficult to control our eating habits, who doesn’t love a cookie in front of the TV? And one cookie is certainly fine, but 10… perhaps not.

If you are like us and struggle to hold yourself back from a cheeky biscuit though, try limiting your carb intake and focus on some different types of healthy carbs such as green veg or whole fruits.

By realising where you sit on that continuum of self-control, you’ll be able to take back control of your carb intake and go through your day being carb carefree! 😁
