Debbie and Dave's Journey At The DVCC

Written by Mark Gray | 18/09/19 05:43

Debbie and Dave have been married for 32 years, with both having worked in the emergency services, Dave in the fire and rescue service and Debbie being a nurse at their local hospital.

With such hectic schedules, the duo needed something that was flexible enough to suit their work lives and also structured enough for them both to incorporate into their day. Which is when they found The DVCC!

They wanted something that they knew they would be able to enjoy both together and as individuals and thanks to the welcoming, supportive and motivating community here at The DVCC they have found exactly that!

Since then, Debbie has managed to lose over 2 stone so far and Dave is feeling far fitter and healthier!

We would like to thank them both for their amazing services!

Dave: We've been married for

Debbie: 32 years.Got it right!

Dave: I was in the fire and rescue service for 32 years, I retired 4 years ago now and realised that I probably need to keep my fitness levels up.

Debbie: I work at the local hospital as a nurse there. We're just getting to that point in life where you need to be looking after yourself a little bit better.

Dave: Going to gyms, it felt like I had to find my own self-motivation and I really found that difficult. You'd get home from work and think actually, do you know what? I really can't be bothered today, so you'd just sit on the sofa. By coming here, for me, it’s focused me on the fact that it is structured.

When we started coming, it was a lot about doing something together and attending something that we could do together and push ourselves together.

Debbie: They’ve been very friendly, they're very good. Small groups are very good and you feel like you are getting a 1:1. Team sessions are great. They're quite social, there is a lot of banter going around.

I've managed to lose 2 stone so far, that has been as huge achievement for me because I've tried for many years and it’s not really happened!

Dave: I feel better, I feel fitter,  my recovery times are much much better!

Debbie: They look after you, there's all shapes, sizes, ages that join the gym. You are with likeminded people and people that are thinking the same thing. Everyone is very supportive, which is lovely!
