"It's was the kick up the bum I needed!" - Colin's Journey At The DVCC

After Colin hit 60, he quickly found that every year he would become run down, ill, and lacking energy to do anything…

But that all changed when Colin caught reflection in a shop window and was thought “How did this ever happen?”

He decided to shake up his routine, so tried our 30 day challenge and hasn’t looked back since!

“I'd been here like once and basically everybody knew who I was!”

Now, Colin has found a community that he feels comfortable in, where everyone is celebrating his successes, and as a result, he is feeling more energised and doing the things he loves more!

Others have started to notice his transformation too!

“It's been the kick up the bum I needed and I'm glad that I did it!”

"It was a reason to get off of my butt and get out of the house. The main reason for coming was my health.

As soon as I hit 60, I just noticed every winter, I was ill, colds, flu, chest infections, that led to me just basically doing nothing. I'd get home from work, I was constantly tired, I had no enthusiasm, no energy, nothing.

The thing that used to shock me the most was just walking through the town and you would catch sight of your reflection in a shop window and you would sort of think: "Flipping heck, is that really me? Look at the size I am, how did this ever happen? Then I decided, this has got to change!

They put me at ease straight away, explained everything to me and talked about me and my personal goals, any health issues I may have that they need to be aware of. As soon as I walked through the door, I'd been here like once and basically everybody knew who I was!

There's no problem with being nervous, but straight away, you will feel part of the group. I have more enthusiasm, more energy, I felt like actually going out and doing more stuff outside of here and outside of work. Then when people start noticing the difference in you as well, you suddenly think: "Yeah, this is good!”

There's no pressure. It's not a competition. You do what you can do, you're encouraged to perhaps do that little bit more, which is good because we all need someone telling us how to push ourselves a little bit more to get the results that you want. It's been the kick up the bum I needed and I'm glad that I did it!"
